Student opportunities and activities
At Padstow Heights Public School, we offer a variety of programs in the classroom and across the school to help students build new skills, make friends and explore new interests.
Our programs may include:

Our extra-curricular highlights
Debating and public speaking
Students can develop their thinking, communication and teamwork skills through debating and public speaking. They also have the chance to compete in local and state events.
Creative and performing arts
Dance groups run by staff are also offered as part of preparation for the Bankstown District Dance Festival in October each year. The amount and make-up of the dance groups vary each year.
School Clubs
Our school gives students the opportunity to create clubs according to their interests. We have several clubs running during the lunch break on different days

Our school choir took part in School Spectacular over the last years.
PSSA
We offers a variety of PSSA sports for students in Years 3-6 throughout the year. These include Basketball, Tennis, Soccer, Cricket, T-ball, Netball, AFL, Touch Football and Newcombe ball. Our school's PSSA sport guidelines can be accessed below:
Maths Olympiad
Our mathematics extension program runs weekly and offers our High Potential and Gifted students opportunities to explore challenging concepts. Students collaborate with peers to develop problem solving skills and refine their mathematical communication, reasoning and justification. Our school also participates in the Australasian Problem-Solving Mathematical Olympiads, an inter-school competition that has been specifically designed to stimulate and challenge high potential and high achieving students in Years 5 and 6.
Beauty Point Visit
Each week, students hop on a bus and head to Beauty Point Retirement Resort, where they connect with seniors over games, stories, art, and conversation. These sessions are a highlight of the week for many — full of laughter, learning, and meaningful friendship.
The Intergenerational Project is more than a school program—it is a powerful vehicle for cultural change and educational innovation.
It has allowed Padstow Heights Public School to:
- Develop outward-facing, empathetic, and socially engaged students.
- Identify and nurture students with high potential in the Social and Emotional Domain and Creative Domain
- Deepen school connection and foster wellbeing.

The project allows students to actively engage with older members of the community in meaningful, reciprocal ways—an experience that cultivates empathy, social responsibility, and a strong sense of contribution.
